Fun and Simple Crafts to Do During Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving break is the perfect time for families to slow down, spend time together, and create special memories. While the holiday often centers around food and family gatherings, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to spark your child’s creativity with simple, seasonal crafts.
At Imagine Early Education and Childcare, we love using hands-on activities to build fine motor skills, imagination, and confidence. Here are some fun Thanksgiving-inspired crafts you and your child can enjoy at home this season.
Handprint Turkeys ✋🦃
A Thanksgiving classic! Trace your child’s hand on construction paper, then let them decorate the “feathers” with markers, paint, or even colorful tissue paper. Add eyes, a beak, and feet to bring the turkey to life.
Tip: Write one thing your child is thankful for on each feather to make it meaningful!
Thankful Tree 🌳🍁
Cut out paper leaves in fall colors and hang them on a branch placed in a vase (or tape them to a wall). Each day during break, have your child write or draw something they’re thankful for on a leaf and add it to the tree.
This is a great way to combine gratitude with creativity.
Pumpkin Pie Paper Plates 🥧
Give each child a paper plate and cut it into triangle “slices.” Let them paint or color the slices orange for pumpkin pie, then glue on a cotton ball “whipped cream.”
Perfect for practicing scissor skills and imaginative play!
Corn on the Cob Craft 🌽
Glue yellow, orange, and brown pieces of tissue paper (rolled into little balls) onto an ear-shaped piece of paper to make colorful “kernels.” Add green construction paper husks to complete the look.
This craft helps little ones strengthen hand muscles while making something festive.
Turkey Hats 🎩🦃
Cut strips of construction paper to make a headband, then let your child decorate feathers and attach them to the back. Add a beak and wattle to the front.
Your child will love wearing their turkey hat at the dinner table on Thanksgiving Day!
Crafting is a fun way to keep little hands busy during Thanksgiving break while building creativity, fine motor skills, and family traditions. Whether you’re making handprint turkeys, a thankful tree, or a festive hat, these simple projects will add extra joy to your holiday.
From all of us at Imagine Early Education and Childcare, we wish your family a warm, safe, and joy-filled Thanksgiving! 🧡
